Melbourne Tourist Train

Each carriage is designed to hold 10 people for a total capacity of 30 passengers.

A Honda 1600cc water-cooled engine powers the train, it has a 2-speed automatic transmission and airbrakes have been fitted to the front wheels of each carriage.

Trackless Train Prime Mover Specifications:

• Engine: Powered by Honda Accord 1600cc water-cooled engine converted to LPG gas (LPG conversion certified to Australian and International Standards), Natural Gas or petrol.
• Transmission: Two or three speed Hondamatic automatic gearbox with park locking and neutral safety switch.The Drive train is through a 4:1 reduction box driving through two universal shafts fitted with CV Joints to a front and rear final drive unit of 4.1:1 reduction, giving constant four wheel drive.
• Brakes: Hydraulic brakes on rear wheels with 3 mechanical hand brakes.
• Tyres: Tyre Size is 20.5/800-10 6P on front & rear wheels.
• Chassis: The main frame is 65mm x 35mm x 3mm RHS with aluminium and fibreglass bodywork. Options include timber fretwork and the galvanising of chassis. (This is recommended for areas of operation in and around a seaside location).
• Fuel Tank: A replaceable a 35 litre petrol tank for petrol operation is fitted which allows approximately 12 hrs operation under full load.
• Instruments: Speedometer, odometer, fuel & temperature gauges and ignition charge lights are fitted.
• Safety Equipment: Two 200mm x 100mm rear view mirrors, audible and visual warning devises and hazard lighting plus an audible speed warning device which turns the engine off if the speed is not reduced within a 2 second time frame.
• Maximum Load: Three carriages of 10 people for a total of 30 passengers.
• Painting and Detailing: All paint work is done with automotive 2 pack paint,with artwork and detailing as required.
• Dimensions: 1000mm wide, 2500mm long, weight 700 kgs.
• Carriage Specifications: 100A Series carriage seats 10 adults, facing forwards with opening doors fitted on one side. The seating is individual plastic seats.
• Chassis: Main frame is 65mm x 35mm x 3mm RHS painted or optional galvanised, with 50mm x 25mm RHS and 25mm x 25mm RHS superstructure with aluminium body panelling and either aluminium or wooden flooring.
• Brakes: 200mm Spring Aplied air release brakes to the front wheels of carriage with “break-away” fail safe air operated brakes.
• Steering : Four wheel steering providing carriage self tracking.
• Suspension: No suspension is provided in this carriage version.
• Coupling: 50mm ball coupling with safety train.
• Wheels: 200mm alloy rims on tapered roller bearings with 4.5 x 8 tyres.
• Paint and detailing: All paint work is done in automotive 2 pack paint,with artwork and detailing.
• Dimensions: 1100mm wide (roof width is 1200mm) 3500mm long, drawbar length is 1000mm.
